I have always wanted to explore this remote part of the state below Utah's I-70 in the San Rafael Swell. Every year, the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance holds a roundup meeting out there at Muddy Creek. I met up with a couple of friends from the spa. We really enjoyed the scenery and the hiking. I went with a group who attempted Knotted Rope. Unfortunately, the potholes were too empty (for successfully swimming across), and so we could not safely get through and complete the entire hike. We backtracked instead, and enjoyed wonderful vistas from the top of the cliffs.
Me above the Muddy River drainage.
The dirt airstrip below is where all of us camped.
The Henry's in the distance, with Factory Butte in center, and a small window arch.
We had light rain one night before dinner, but were treated with this brilliant rainbow!
Sunrise over the swell as I was driving home.
